Is Lewis and Clark Treading Softly on the Earth?
WHO?:
This site was developed as part of a "footprint" project in Environmental Studies 200, "Introduction to Environmental Studies" taught by Evan Williams at Lewis and Clark College. Now called ENVS 160, this site is being maintained by one of the 2003 footprint groups.
WHAT?:
Every person, company, country, EVERYTHING leaves its own unique ecological footprint on the earth. The goal of the footprint projects and this website is to explore the footprint of Lewis and Clark College on the local environment.
HOW?:
Each team looks at a particular aspect of our print by gathering data, making observations talking to administration, brainstorming and often implementing more environmentally sound ways of managing the campus.
In line with the unifying environmental tripod theme of this course, each team has considered their projects from the respective standpoints of science/technology, social science (economics/political science), and humanities (ethics).

The real work of planet saving will be small, humble, and humbling, and (insofar as it involves love) pleasing and rewarding. Its jobs will be too many to count, too many to report, too many to be publicly noticed or rewarded, too small to make anyone rich or famous. -Wendell Berry
