FRANCE: NANCY (Fall/Spring/Full Year) - Prerequisites: Two years of college French. Grade point average of 3.0 in language and Junior standing. Program: Lewis & Clark offers a semester or full-year option program at the Service Universitaire des Etudiants Etrangers (SUEE) in Nancy, France. Advanced students may be admitted to courses open to French students. Housing is with host families. Fulfills the overseas study requirement for the French Studies Major and the Foreign Languages Major with French as primary language.

GERMANY: MUNICH (Full Year) - Prerequisite: Two years of college German. Grade point average of 3.0 in language. Program: In cooperation with Reed College and Willamette University, Lewis & Clark annually offers a full-year program at the University of Munich. Students take courses at the university and special courses are provided by the Lewis & Clark staff. Housing is in dormitories. Fulfills for the overseas study requirement for the German Studies major.

ENGLAND: LONDON
Program Focus: Theatre and Art

Program:
This program is designed by the Music Deparment and focuses on the arts in England, especially London, and the relationship of music, theater, and the visual arts to English culture. In addition to attending weekly concerts, plays, visiting galleries and museums, students will embrace social and economic questions related to the arts through classes, lectures and group discussions. The program is open to any student, but those with well-defined interests and experience with one of the arts will benefit the most. Binding participants together will be a consideration of how the arts reflect conditions (past and present), including aspects of political and economic environments , and issues of corporate, private and government sponsorship. Although the program focuses on the London arts scene, the program takes several weekend field trips to such sites as St. Ives (St. Ives Tate Gallery), Bath, York and Cambridge. At least one longer weekend fieldtrip is taken outside of England to Scotland, Ireland or Wales.

FRANCE: STRASBOURG (Fall/Spring) - Prerequisites: Two years of college French. Grade point Average of 3.0 in language. Program: A semester program at the Institut International d'Etudes Françaises (IIEF) in Strasbourg, one of the Centers of European integration. The program offers course work in French language and culture, with an opportunity to explore different aspects of European politics and to experience the uniqueness of Alsatian Old-World culture. Housing is with French host families. Program fulfills the two-course international studies requirement.
GREECE: CLASSICAL STUDIES (Fall 2009) - Prerequisites: Minimum of 2.75 GPA
Program: Study andtravel will focus on the history and culture of Greece from the Classical Period to the BYzantine Era. Based in Atthens and the island of Lesbos, the program will include extensive excursions to archaeological sites important for understanding the ancient Mediterranean world (including travel into Turkey).

ITALY: SIENA (Spring, Alternate Years. Next Program: Spring 2011, Apply Spring 2010) Prerequisites: Italian 101. Recommended: Art History 101 and 111, and courses in Medieval and Renaissance literature and history. Program: Emphasizes intensive language study and history. Using Siena as a base, students explore contemporary Italy through the study of its history, including particularly its art and architecture, literature, and culture. Excursions to regional areas of interest and Florence. Fulfills the foreign language requirement and the two-course international studies requirement.
SCOTLAND: GLASGOW (Fall, Alternate Years. Next Program: Fall 2010, Apply Fall 2009) - Prerequisite: None. Program: Using Glasgow as a base, students explore contemporary Scotland through the study of its history, literature, and contemporary social and political issues. In addition to study at the University of Glasgow, students participate in community research projects. The program begins with a month in the Highlands and Hebrides Island. Students are housed with host families and in dormitories.
SPAIN: SEVILLE (Spring, Alternate Years. Next Program: Spring 2011, Apply Spring 2010) - Prerequisite: Completion of Spanish 201. Program: Study focuses on major historical and cultural events that have shaped modern Spain. Particular attention is given to southern Spain and its cultural roots in North Africa. The program is based in Sevilla and includes excursions to Madrid and Granada. Students live with host families in Sevilla. Fulfills the two course international studies requirement.
