    Representing Global Capital

Our project on Global Capital attempts to map the landscapes and narratives of Capital and Globalization in corporate television ads. We are studying how ads picture social and cultural life.

This is a project in progress and we are interested in critical responses and suggestions that readers might have. Please Respond here.

    TV Commercial Database

Our primary data set consists of approximately six hundred television commercials sponsored by corporate firms in the financial, communications, computer, transport, and energy sectors from 1995 to the present.

Linked to the project, we are building a searchable database that includes a record for all of the TV commercials in our data set. We have keyworded and transcribed each ad. We also include brief corporate descriptions along with notes on the ads. We hope to have a prototype of this database running soon.
