Overseas and Off-Campus Programs
A liberal arts college committed to international education, Lewis & Clark offers an extensive selection of off-campus study programs. Each year about 280 students participate in approximately 25 programs, either abroad or in selected areas of the United States. Overseas and other off-campus programs form an integral part of the total educational experience at the College. They support and enhance on-campus curricula and provide unique academic and experiential opportunities abroad. The purpose of overseas programs is to immerse students in a foreign culture so that they may become informed firsthand of the host country’s history, culture, and contemporary issues. In the process, they gain insights into their own culture by comparing and contrasting American institutions and values with those of the host country. In addition, programs provide students with academic knowledge and experience related to specific fields of study not available on campus.
