Anthony C. “Tony” Abena ’86
Anthony C. “Tony” Abena ’86 graduated from Lewis & Clark with a B.S. in international affairs. He received his M.B.A. in marketing from the University of Minnesota in 1994. While at Lewis & Clark, Mr. Abena served as Chair of SAAB and Vice President for Student Academic Affairs in 1985 and drove the creation of what is now the popular SAAB student tutoring program that provides tutoring services to fellow students. He states that his involvement with SAAB taught him the importance and value of collaboration and teamwork and that he quickly learned that a focused, inspired team working together toward a common goal produces the best ideas and most successful results.
Mr. Abena is the Chief Operating Officer of Deloitte Investments, an internal start-up division within Deloitte LLP, focused on acquiring, building and growing a market-leading information and Software-as–a-service (SaaS) portfolio of businesses in specific “must-have” vertical market segments for C-level decision makers and knowledge workers. Previously he served as Senior Vice President of Law Firms at Thomson West, the foremost provider of integrated information solutions to the U.S. legal market. He was responsible for developing strategy and launching new products and services throughout the United States. Prior to joining Thomson West, Mr. Abena held a variety of executive roles at Gartner, a leading IT analytics firm and co-founded two technology startup companies.
Tony Abena is married to Stacy (Manning) Abena ’88 who earned her B.A. in communication. Tony and Stacy Abena reside in Edina, Minnesota with their four children. In his free time, Mr. Abena volunteers with local nonprofits focused on work skills training. He also enjoys backpacking, fly fishing, classic car restoration and thoroughbred breeding and racing.
