Ahmed Al Badi ‘82

Ahmed Al Badi is Chairman and CEO of the Belbadi Enterprises, a UAE-based institution focused on the needs of the Gulf and UAE markets. The company has played an important role in the development of the local economic environment by identifying and responding to new needs and requirements. It currently includes divisions in the areas of oilfield services, power generation, construction and land development, electro-mechanical contracting, carpentry, automobile distribution, financial and investment services, education and health. He was recently appointed to the Boards of Arab International Logistics Co. (ARAMEX). He is also a member of the board of WorldCare International, a leading provider of international telemedicine services.

Mr. Al Badi received his B.A. in international relations from Lewis & Clark College in 1981. In 1996, he received the Outstanding Young Alumni award from the Lewis & Clark Alumni Association.

Mr. Al Badi has served his country, his region, and the international community with distinction in many ways over the years. He is currently on the Boards of the Union National Bank and the Emirates Insurance Company in the UAE. Mr. Al Badi also serves on the Boards of WorldCare International, and is the Chairman of the Board of Belbadi Group of Companies, United Arab Emirates. He was president of the Forty-Fifth World Health Assembly, and has served as the UAE’s Minister of Health, Acting Minister of Oil and Natural Resources, and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Arab Ministers of Health. He also established and chaired the UAE’s Federal Environmental Agency and was on the Advisory Board of the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Organization of the World Health Organization. Mr. Al Badi assisted in the establishment of the Treasury Department at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority in 1983, which he then chaired for seven years. At the regional level, he has served on the Board of the Arab Investment Company, and is a founder-member Abu Dhabi International Private School, and also serves as the Chairman of iCapital, the IT (Information Technology) Group of Belbadi Enterprises.

Mr. Al Badi and his wife, Dalal, and their four children reside in Abu Dhabi.
