Trustee Biography: Gerald W. Fischer

fischer.jpgGerald W. Fischer, B.S. ‘67, is professor of pediatrics and adviser to the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Program at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is also a partner in PanFlu, an organization focused on providing solutions to pandemic preparedness and disaster response. Fischer was an active duty army officer for 23 years and retired as a colonel in 1993. He joined Uniformed Services University in 1977 to establish and direct the pediatric research program and served as director of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship Program from 1982 to 1996. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Lewis & Clark and his medical degree from the University of Oregon Medical School. Fischer lives in Maryland with his wife, Kay.
