Update on presidential search from Jay Waldron
The Presidential Search Committee met on August 25 to mark the end of summer and start the work of vetting potential candidates. All members of the search committee were in attendance either in person or by teleconference.
The Issacson/Miller team started with a reminder for the search committee of the importance of confidentiality at this stage. David Bellshaw from Isaacson/Miller and his associates Regan Gough and Stephanie Mardell reported that they have made over 350 contacts to date, with over 100 telephone conversations with potential candidates.
Lewis & Clark is receiving a great reception from potential candidates. Members of the search committee have been providing names of traditional prospects from higher education, as well as some non-traditional prospects who might merit consideration. Our consultants also expect interest to intensify now that summer is ending. The College’s ad was placed in the August 7 edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, and Hispanic Outlook. The ads have generated a very good response.
The Committee will meet again on September 29 to start narrowing the pool of candidates. After that meeting, and as other developments warrant, we will continue posting updates to the Presidential Search Website.
