Ron Timpe

Ronald “Ron” Timpe is a director of StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. From 1998 to 2004, Mr. Timpe was chair of the board of directors of StanCorp and its principal subsidiary, Standard Insurance Company. From 1994 until 2003, he served as president and chief executive officer of Standard Insurance Company and, upon its formation in 1998, StanCorp Financial Group, Inc. He joined Standard Insurance Company as an assistant actuary in 1968 and subsequently served as assistant vice president and actuary, Individual Insurance; vice president, Group Pensions; and senior vice president, Group Insurance and Corporate Financial Services. Mr. Timpe served in the United States Army National Guard from 1961 to 1967.

Mr. Timpe currently serves as a senior director of the Oregon Business Council and as a trustee of the Oregon Health & Science University Foundation. Mr. Timpe has long been an active community leader, and has previously served as president of the Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America; a member of the Portland State University Advisory Board, and a trustee of Willamette University. Mr. Timpe was a director of the Portland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Business Committee for the Arts, and has served on the boards of Waverly Children’s Home, Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette, the Oregon Independent College Foundation and the Oregon Symphony.

Mr. Timpe received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Lewis & Clark in 1961 and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 1990.

Ron is married to Ivy and they have two children.
