Chief Diversity Officer
Accessibility Task Force
Standing Committee on Accessibility Charge
(Adapted from President’s Task Force on Accessibility Final Report)
The Committee on Accessibility is comprised of student, faculty, and staff representatives from CAS, Law and GSEC and will meet monthly to monitor the Institution’s progress on accessibility. This committee, if possible, will be chaired by the campus Section 504 Officer (Director of Student Support Services) and our ADA Compliance Officer* (Assistant Vice President or Director of Human Resources).
The Committee on Accessibility will serve as an advocate body for all members of the LC community who face obstacles related to accessibility and will liaison with Facilities Services, Student Support Services, and Human Resources to ensure both proactive and reactive attention to accessibility issues.
The Committee on Accessibility will identify and focus their efforts every year on 2-3 recommendations from the President’s Task Force on Accessibility, as well as emerging topics related to enrollment, facilities, curricula, and campus climate. The efforts of the committee will be represented in a yearly report, authored by select members of the committee and presented to the greater LC community.
The offices that are expected to be represented on this committee are: the Office of Student Support Services, the Office of Human Resources, Information Technology, the Office of Facilities Services, Campus Living, Campus Safety, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, LC Administration, CAS Faculty, Law Faculty, GSEC Faculty, Associated Students of Lewis & Clark (ASLC), Student Union Network (SUN), and the Student Bar Association (SBA)
The committee is divided in to four work teams to look at six distinct areas for improvements in making Lewis & Cark a more accessible campus community. To learn more about these areas and their priority recommendations, click here.
