Beethoven’s Ears

Lewis and Clark faculty Dorien de Leon and Susan DeWitt Smith will play Beethoven’s Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 5, No. 2, joined by the Oregon String Quartet performing Beethoven’s great late string quartet in Eb, Op. 127. In this concert OHSU professor of otolaryngology, Dr. William Martin, PhD, will discuss Beethoven’s deafness, lending insight into what hearing loss may have been like for him, what could have caused it, and what impact it may have had on his music. Free and open to the public.  This event is open to the public.
