Talk of the Irish
Meredith Price ‘07 was one of three U.S. students selected to debate a team from Ireland this spring during the National Parliamentary Debate Association’s national competition in Corvallis. The debate topic was “Give Peace a Chance: Elect Women.”
“The Irish debate experience is unique because the format is less technical and typically more reliant on humor,” says Price. “It was a true test of my ability to think on my feet, read a crowd, and make arguments and jokes that would be well received.”
Price, an international affairs major, plans to attend law school and pursue a career in international law. For the 2005-06 academic year, she served as vice president for student academic affairs for the Associated Students of Lewis & Clark and chair of the Student Academic Affairs Board.
Steve Hunt, professor of communication, coaches Lewis & Clark’s debate team.
