Academics

Students come to Lewis & Clark from all kinds of backgrounds, but they have one thing in common: they're among the best, brightest, most intellectually curious young people in the world.

Our small size and low faculty-student ratio mean that students receive a great deal of personal attention. Collaboration happens everywhere—from the classroom to the lab to the stage to the mountains to the Oregon Coast. Students and faculty learn from and with each other every day.

Lewis & Clark has 28 majors and 25 minors in the arts and humanities, social sciences, and mathematical and natural sciences, and approximately 25 overseas and off campus study programs. Interdisciplinary programs such as Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Ethnic Studies, and Environmental Studies encourage cross-pollination among diverse fields of knowledge.

The foundation for a Lewis & Clark education is Exploration and Discovery, our unique first-year core course, which establishes a common foundation in the liberal arts that students continue to build upon in unexpected and valuable ways throughout the rest of their time here.
