At Colorado Springs and Tacoma, Pios Advance
With two teams in Colorado and four in Tacoma, the Pioneers debated well. At the United States Air Force Academy/Colorado College Swing Tournament, the team of Hannah Tierney and Ben Tyson advanced to Semifinals and Octafinals (respectively). Alex Beck and Pam Garman also advance to elimination rounds at both tournaments, making it to double-octafinals and octafinals. Tierney was also recognized as the 6th (USAFA) and 7th (CC) speakers.
At University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA, the Pios advance the junior division team of Courtney Burum and Jordan Buysse to quarterfinals. Burum picked-up the 5th speaker award for junior division. The open division team of Neil Hilton and Ramya Ramesh made it to the quarterfinal round as well. Ramesh was the 9th overal speaker in open.
On November 6, some Pios will be heading to Northern California for an IE swing and debate tournament at University of the Pacific. The next full-squad tournament is November 20-22 at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR.
