Classical Studies

Minoring

In order to complete the Classical Studies minor, a minimum of 28 semester hours would be required, at least sixteen of which must be discrete to the minor (may not be used in any other set of major or minor requirements), distributed as follows:

1. Classical Studies 200 - Introduction to Classical Studies

2. Classical Studies 450 - Topics in Classical Studies

3. Greek or Latin language through 201

 4. Eight semester credits selected from a list of approved electives, from a minimum of two disciplines

Such electives will ordinarily include the following (when available):

Art 101- History of Western Art

Comm 304 - Classical Rhetorical Theory

English 279 - Classical Backgrounds

Greek 101, 102 - Classical Greek

Greek 201 - Readings in Hellenistic and Classical Greek

Latin 101, 102 - Beginning Latin

Latin 201 - Intermediate Latin

Phil 301 - Ancient Western Philosophy

Phil 451, 452, 453 - Philosophical Studies (when on Greco-Roman: must be approved for credit towards the minor by the Program Director

PolSci 310 - Political Theory

Rel Studies 223 - New Testament

Rel Studies 450 - Seminar in Biblical Studies

Theater 281 - Theater and Drama
