FENU – The Far Eastern National University was established in 1899.

Today it has 36,000 students among whom 5,000 are international students. It is one of the leading institutions of higher education in Russia. You can read about it at: http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Far_Eastern_National_ University or http://www.fenu. ru/

The Russian School established in 1989 is one of the best centers for international education in Russia. It combines an excellent academic program with good facilities and support services.

The Russian School at FENU:

• Two years of college Russian is the prerequisite for this program. It is especially good for foreign languages majors with Russian as a primary language and for students who want to study in the “other” (Asian) Russia.

• Unlike the St. Petersburg program, LC students at FENU take all courses in Russian and live in the university dorm with other international students most of whom are from Japan, China and the Koreas. Academic offerings include Russian conversation, grammar, phonetics, reading the mass media, Russian history and history of the Russian Far East, Russian music, folklore, and many more….

• Students are placed in Russian courses by proficiency level: intermediate or advanced. The Russian School at FENU holds a nationally recognized license in testing international students for proficiency in Russian. Participants are given proficiency testing before and after the program.

• The Russian School has a computer lab, a library and a Museum of Russian Culture, all of which are used in the language curriculum. The academic program is supported by extensive co-curricular activities, including excursions to local museums and points of interest, club activities, sports events, volunteer work, etc. Read more information about the Russian School at FENU at http://rs.wl.dvgu. ru/.
