Event and Development Intern

WEC is seeking a person with excellent communication and organizational skills to assist in the planning and implementation of its annual fundraising event.

Position Description
This position is under the supervision of the WEC Development Manager. Duties include:

  • Help with planning and implementation of several cultivation events, including:
    • Identification of invitees;
    • Creation and distribution of invites;
    • Design of marketing materials;
    • Help with menu and party planning.
  • Assist with annual fundraising event, to be held November 6, 2009, including
    • Silent auction item procurement;
    • Tracking status of auction items;
    • Preparation of display materials;
    • Design & set-up of auction space at event location;
    • Running the silent auction at the event.
    • Helping manage volunteers and other supporters.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate for this position is detail-oriented, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is creative, and a good “people-person”. He/she should also be able to work independently and have good computer skills (experience with Microsoft Access is highly desirable). Experience with event planning, either paid or as a volunteer, is a plus. He/she must be able to attend the event on Friday, November 6, 2008.

Hours
This position is available immediately. Depending on availability, the position can conclude at the end of summer or continue through November 2009. Approx 10-15 hours/week, days are flexible.

The internship is unpaid, but you may receive academic credit.
