Wayne Morse Chair Annual Public Address
Dale Jamieson
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
University of Oregon at Portland, 70 NW Couch Street (White Stag Bldg)
4:00 PM
Climate change is the most difficult challenge humanity has ever faced, and we are not responding adequately. We have tended to view climate change through the lens of science and technology rather than through morality and politics. Jamieson will discuss how concepts such as justice and moral responsibility can be applied in the arena of climate change policy.
Dale Jamieson is a leading environmental ethicist who has been commenting on the ethical issues of climate change for two decades. His books are used widely in environmental studies classes. He is Professor of Philosophy and Environmental Studies at New York University.
