Registration Guidelines:
Section Preference Registration
You have the opportunity to indicate five preferences for your Exploration and Discovery section. When making selections, you are encouraged to take an active role and use the E&D website to review the section descriptions as well as the faculty teaching in the course, including their academic backgrounds, disciplines, and research interests.
Although every effort will be made to honor your section preference, we cannot guarantee that all students will be assigned to one of their preferred selections. This is due to several factors:
- All sections are limited to 19 students (no exceptions).
- Varsity athletes are encouraged to talk with their coaches to determine if morning sections are necessary to avoid conflict with practices and game schedules.
- Preferences are prioritized by demographic factors and not just by the date they are received.
It is important for students to note:
- You may not select the same professor for fall and spring sections. This policy encourages you to explore new disciplines and meet other faculty with different approaches and ideas.
- If you do not submit an E&D section preference form or your form is received after the due date, you will be assigned to a section on a space-available basis.
- Class times are 1:50 p.m. - 2:50 p.m. (with the exception of six morning sections) and all classes are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- Several faculty members teach multiple sections; therefore it is important to note the time of the class you are selecting.
- Changing sections is limited to open seats and no changes are allowed after the third class session. The standard add/drop policy does not apply to Exploration and Discovery.
