TH 249 - Theatre at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival

Content: Focuses on a week of theatre-going (nine plays) at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon. Three weeks of contextual study of the plays and their authors, including the study of appropriate cognate plays and authors; individualized research and project work; one week of play-going in Ashland; two weeks of post-performance writing and discussion. The week in Ashland will feature one-hour supplementary classes at Southern Oregon University, talks with actors and directors at OSF. May apply to the theatre major or minor as a pre-modern dramatic literature/theatre history course or modern dramatic literature/theatre history course.

 

Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland: June 8-June 14

Plays include a variety of Shakespeare’s most popular dramas and comedies, plus contemporary works new to the Ashland theater. Here is the complete list of plays students will attend: Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Henry VIII, Don Quixote, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, Death and the King’s Horse, Equivocation, The Music Man, and Servant of Two Masters. Course Fee: $400

This fee covers play tickets, lodging, and travel. A great value for students! Play tickets alone total $550.
