ART 227 - Special Topics in Studio Art: Video Art

Content: An introduction to video as a Fine Art medium. We will cover the basics of camera use, editing software and preparation for production, as well as outputting finished work. We will also look at the history of Video Art and explore how artists have addressed topics specific to the medium: such as technology, the identity of the artist, and the nature of the art object in mediated time-based events. We will look at single-channel work as well as installation and video over the web.
Generic Catalog Description for ART 227: Select and study a topic or medium in studio art that is not addressed in the currently listed courses.
Prerequisites: 100-level studio course or consent of instructor
