New York Times Crossword Puzzle Competition

The Crossword Puzzle Competition has ended! Congratulations to the top five teams:

1st place:

Josh Oppenheim & Theresa Hennings - 83 total clues (Thu + Fri)

2nd place (tie):

Ariana & Alex Lenarsky - 81 total clues (Thu + Fri)
Michael Heveran & Alexa Bella - 81 total clues (Thu + Fri)

3rd place:

Cecily Pretty & Lili Pill-Kahan - 79 total clues (Thu + Fri)

4th place:

Will Cross & Erin Ruprecht - 73 total clues (Thu + Fri)

 

Contest Details

1. Students may enter in teams of two or as individuals (but both teams & individuals will compete in the same pool). All entrants must be currently enrolled Lewis & Clark undergraduate students.

2. On Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday, teams must submit their work on the daily NYT crossword puzzle by 5:00pm to the ASLC Cabinet office on the main level of Templeton. The puzzle need not be completed.

3. On Thursday, the top 10 teams will compete at a set time and be given an hour to complete as much of a past Thursday NYT puzzle as they can.

4. On Friday, the top 5 teams will compete at a set time and be given an hour to complete as much of a past Friday NYT puzzle as they can.

5. The top 3 teams or individuals will be awarded gift cards as follows:

1st place-$100 each; 2nd place-$50 each; 3rd place-$25 each. The top 10 teams will also receive crossword puzzle books courtesy of the New York Times.

6. Notification of team status will be communicated via email from the Community Relations Committee at crc@lclark.edu. Questions can be directed to this email.
