This weekend marked the beginning of conference play for softball. Saturday the women started against Pacific with a doubleheader at home. The Pioneers lost the first game 10-2, and the second 16-7. Sunday the women traveled to Linfield, losing again 17-2 and 5-2.
Another weekend series and yet another tough loss to swallow. Pioneer baseball dropped two of three to Willamette over the weekend, and fell to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in the Northwest Conference. After winning the first game of the three-game set, the Pios lost the final two on the road and failed to win a series for the third consecutive weekend.
Imagine: Early in the morning, when most of campus is still asleep and not even Templeton is bustling, the crew team is meeting to train. The team spent a majority of its training time on land earlier in the season, and now is incorporating more and more water practices.
Not traditionally thought of as a hoops hotbed, the Pacific Northwest, and more specifically the greater Seattle area, has recently become the launching point for many successful NBA careers. Often overlooked by basketball Meccas such as New York, Southern California, and the Baltimore/District of Columbia area, Seattle has become one of the surefire regions to provide skilled, NBA-ready ball players.
Every Lewis & Clark student loves to stick it to Reed College. This weekend Artemis, the LC women’s ultimate Frisbee team, got to live that dream when they topped Reed in the championship game of the Grover Ultimate Madness tournament in Forest Grove.
