Admissions Essay

The essay helps us get acquainted with you in ways different from courses, grades, test scores, and other objective data. It also enables you to demonstrate your ability to organize thoughts and express yourself. This is a very important part of the admission process and we've even put together a helpful essay writing primer to assist you in answering all of your essay-related questions.

The Common Application requires your essay to be at least 250 words, and no more than 500 words, in length, and may address one of the topics listed on the Common Application or the topic of your choice. If you choose to submit your essay separately please indicate that on the Common Application and do not submit an essay over 1,000 words.

Transfer applicants: In addition to the essay, you must also write a statement discussing what you have learned from your experience at your current/most recent institution.
