Jessica Houston
Admissions Intern
Greetings!
I am a sophomore and I intend on majoring in International Affairs with a Russian minor. I grew up here in Portland, which helps explain my obsession with Russian. It started back in elementary school when a friend introduced me to her native language. Ever since then the Cyrillic letters and beautiful sounds have captured me. My other interests include reading, drawing, and attending lectures and events unrelated to my major when I can.
I also love getting off campus because Portland has so much to offer. I encourage students to discover their surroundings. I bike and take trimet (our public transit system) so I am not so savvy with how to get around in a car but I might be of some use in other ways. Although, in my experience students don't have to be from Portland to know all about what there's to do here. I am learning a lot more about the city I was born in from students who have never been to the North West before coming to Lewis & Clark!
This year I am particularly excited about helping with AIG's new program Bridge Builders. Bridge Builders sets out to create a support system for prospective students from under represented backgrounds. I am excited about helping with its development and I look forward to working with other students to make it happen.
