Karin made her first appearance in the admissions office as a temp during a summer home from college in Massachusetts. She eventually returned to the College (and her hometown of Portland) for good, working in the math & natural sciences division office before landing back in admissions. Karin works with first-year students from western Oregon – she gets to pay a visit each fall to her own alma mater, Sunset High School (go Apollos!) – and transfer students as well. She also coordinates our scholarship selection process.
Karin’s favorite hobby is raising her 9-year-old son. They are avid followers of Seattle Seahawks football, and they also try to spend as much time outside in the beautiful Pacific Northwest as they can. Karin enjoys reading when she gets the chance and she also enjoys cooking, even though the products of that hobby are generally not well-received by her son, who regards Kraft Mac n' Cheese as fine cuisine. Karin is a self-described U2 fanatic (though she prefers their earlier stuff, before Bono became such a Rock Star), and admits to a chemical dependence upon chocolate.
