Warming up: I wanted to play baseball in college, so a Division III school was perfect for me. Your chances of getting playing time are high, but academics come first. At Lewis & Clark, I’ve been able to play all four years and make my studies top priority.
Playing the game: Last year was a huge step up for our team. Working with our new coach—a former Lewis & Clark student who played in the major leagues—we won more conference games than we had in the previous two or three years combined. This year we’re looking even stronger.
Swinging for the bleachers: I plan to get a master’s degree in sports administration and leadership so I can work in the field I love: sports. Lewis & Clark is helping me get there. When I walk into an interview with a degree from Lewis & Clark College, people will know what that means—they will understand that I put in the time and the effort.
Lessons from the field: Baseball teaches you so much. The biggest lesson I’ve learned here is accountability. You may hit well today but strike out four times tomorrow, so you must learn how to move on and make the next play, because your team is counting on you. My classmates count on me to do my part on group projects; my professors count on me to read the material and participate in class.
Meet more L&C students.
