Exploring: Theatre

Play the part: When you do something you love, there’s a feeling that goes along with it: a combination of excitement and nerves. The theatre is where I’ve found that feeling. At Lewis & Clark, I’ve played all the roles, from acting and directing to lighting and set design. Next year, I will direct a play as my thesis project. I don’t think there’s another school where I could have done so much, so well.

Sing along: I’m a founding member of Lewis & Clark’s a cappella singing group, Momo and the Coop. We started simply by practicing one song over and over, but now we’re singing the chorus in a campus production of a Greek tragedy, and next up we’re recording a CD.

All the world’s a stage: My semester in London was the highlight of my life so far. We went to at least one play or concert every week, visited all of the major galleries, and attended the Bath Shakespeare Festival. I also interned in a gallery owned by one of the appraisers on Antiques Roadshow. To be completely immersed in one of the art capitals of the world was magical.

Be yourself: The campus community is very accepting of people from all walks of life. Different backgrounds, sexual orientations, ethnicities, financial situations, political affiliations—there are people here from pretty much every category you can think of, and we all coexist pretty peacefully. I’m really happy that I’m here.
