Visiting Lewis & Clark College: 2008-2009
"After visiting campus, I became enthusiastic about the opportunities I could explore. The campus seemed alive with interesting people who have progressive intellectual ideas. This is the kind of atmosphere that I hope to be a part of." --A prospective Lewis & Clark student
Weekday campus visits
Lewis & Clark College invites you and your parents to visit our campus. Our weekday visit program is set up so that you can do a morning visit or an afternoon visit. Your visit options may include a campus tour, information session, class visit and hosted lunch.
We encourage you to visit during the week, while classes are in session. This will provide you with the most accurate impression of a typical day at Lewis & Clark, and will also help us to create a visit especially suited to your interests.
Saturday campus visits
If you are not able to visit during a weekday, our office is also open most Saturday mornings, September through April by appointment only. On Saturdays you can participate in a group information session with an admissions counselor at 10:15 a.m. and take a campus tour at 11:15 a.m. Please contact the Office of Admissions for an appointment.
Recommended campus visit options
If you are short on time, we highly recommend that you take at least a couple of hours to join us for a campus tour and an information session. Campus tours
One-hour student-guided tours are available year-round and offer an inside look at life at the College.
Summer Hours (May-August): Tours depart at 9 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Fall, Winter, & Spring Hours (September-April): Tours depart at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and at 9:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday. Tours are also available at 11:30 a.m. on days when classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters.
A campus tour at 11:15 a.m. is also available on most Saturdays during the school year by appointment only. Information sessions
Led by an admissions counselor, these sessions are a good opportunity for students and families to hear an overview of Lewis & Clark programs, as well as to participate in a question-and-answer session.
Summer Hours (May-August): Information sessions are held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m, Monday through Friday.
Fall, Winter, & Spring Hours (September-April): Group information sessions are held at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and at 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday. Other campus visit options
If you have more time to spend on campus, we have other visit options that will give you more of a sense of what it’s like to be a part of the Lewis & Clark community. Interviews
While an interview is optional for admission to Lewis & Clark, it is a great chance for you to speak one-on-one with an admissions counselor. We welcome the opportunity to hear more about you and answer your questions about our curriculum, student life, admission process, and financial aid. Interviews are offered to seniors and transfer students and are available Monday through Friday, May through January. Admissions representatives also conduct interviews in several major cities throughout the fall and early winter. We will notify you in advance if we are coming to your area. If you would like more information about interviewing, read the top ten questions about Lewis & Clark interviews.
Class visits
We believe the best way for a prospective student to get an understanding of the academic atmosphere at Lewis & Clark is by going directly to the source—the faculty and students. If you want to sit in on a class, we must schedule your entire visit at least one week in advance. The calendar below lists dates when you may visit classes. Hosted lunch
The food is great at Lewis & Clark and we invite you to see (and taste) it for yourself! Lunch hosted by a current student is available on any weekday when classes are in session. Overnight visits
A great way for seniors and transfer students to learn more about the Lewis & Clark community is to spend the night with a current student in one of our residence halls. Overnight hosts are available Monday through Thursday night, with guests stays limited to one night. Please bring a sleeping bag if you have one. See the calendar for help in selecting a date.
If you are planning an overnight stay, we must schedule your visit at least two weeks in advance. In late March and early April (our busiest visit months) our overnight slots may fill up. The sooner we know your plans, the more likely we are to have room for you.
