Music Composition

I love L&C! Ahhh! I graduate in May! Ahhh! I think my favorite thing is the incredible relationships that you build with students and faculty alike.

Make sure you like a school for more reasons than just academic programs — it’s important to find a place where you can enjoy people and activities outside of classes. All of my classes have been fun, but I think my favorite is a tie between Beginning Tennis and Percussion Ensemble.

I also participated in the London program in the spring of ’08 — which was AMAZING! When I have free time (which is rare), I play guitar, sing a cappella, play around with Stumble Upon, watch movies, frequent Taco Bell, write music, and buy lots of clothes.

After graduation I’d love to get an internship at a recording studio and maybe work with up-and-coming rock/metal musicians. We’ll see!

Math

My name is Yollie and I’m a Psychology major, Math minor from Poulsbo, Washington. I’m interested in education, developing diversity, listening to music, baking, and watching movies. I am quite the busy body, tutoring at Roosevelt High School and working in the Admissions Office, while being involved with LINCS (Lewis & Clark Intercultural Network for Connecting Students), the Black Student Union, our student government ASLC (Associated Students of Lewis & Clark), and the Ray Warren Multicultural Symposium. There are a lot of opportunities on campus to get involved with so many organizations and groups. My favorite thing about Lewis & Clark is the people: students, staff and faculty. I love that I can go and talk to my professors and advisers and that they’re able to advise and support me!

Music Composition

Composition majors are the best! I love writing music, and hope to work with and for various music organizations after I graduate. In the meantime, I play in the L&C orchestra and wind symphony. Music Composition is definitely one of my favorite classes, along with Chinese.

I speak German, Spanish, English, and Chinese, and I'm also a TCK (Third Culture Kid). I work with ISLC (International Students of Lewis & Clark) and participate in the Multicultural Fair. I’d also like to participate in the London art-intensive trip in the spring of 2010.

Right now, I live in Stewart (the substance-free hall) and enjoy yoga, swimming, dancing, riding horses, reading, cooking, and hanging out with friends. L&C is a beautiful place to live, spend time, and study, but the best thing about it is probably getting to know the professors. There’s a good chance that if you like them as a person, they’ll make a good professor, teacher, or mentor.
