Thursday, October 2:

ALUMNI HONORS BANQUET*
Join the 2008 award recipients at the annual honors banquet for an evening of great food, drink, conversation and celebration of the achievements of these outstanding Lewis & Clark alumni. Bill Feltz '66 and Satya Byock '04 will be honored for their noteworthy accomplishments; Cyrus Partovi '67 and Frank and Donna Lawrence '52 will be honored for their service to the College.

Join new inductees, fellow alumni and Pioneer Athletics Club members for an evening of celebration of the inspiring athletic achievements of Lewis & Clark College Alumni. Corey Loehr '85, Karen Bureker '98, Earl Engebretson '57, Brooks Meek '98, and the 1982 Womens Swim Team will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and William Martell '55, will receive a Lifetime Achievement in Sport Award.

John Bates, How to Lose Money in the Markets.
John was a professor of finance and chair of the Business Department at L&C, and he is a past chair of the Board of Trustees.

Bob Mandel, The Disruptive Tactics of Global Terror for Profit.
Bob is a professor of International Affairs and chair of the department, as well as the adviser for the International Affairs Symposium and the Meridian. He has taught at L&C since 1976.

Paul Powers, Everything I Ever Need to Know I Learned by Studying Islamic Law: Islamic Studies and Religious Studies in the Liberal Arts.
Paul is a professor of Religious Studies and often teaches History courses on Islam.

Liz Safran, Desert Rivers of Oregon: Battles with Lava and Landslides.
Liz is a professor of Geological Science and teaches courses in Geology, Environmental Studies and the Sciences.

Cliff Bekar, In the Company of Strangers.
Cliff is a professor of Economics and chair of the department. His primary academic interests are in economic history and game theory. In this presentation he will examine the possibility that cooperation may emerge from conflict.

Janet Davidson, Who You've Been and Who You'll Be.
Janet is a professor of Psychology and department chair. Her research interests include cognitive development, creativity and intelligence, insight in problem solving, and individual differences.

Susan Glosser, China's World War Two: Past and Present.
Susan is a professor of History and her major research interests lie in East Asia, especially China. She has been teaching at L&C since 1995.

Cyrus Partovi, Tough Talk: Do the Presidential Candidates Have a Realistic Plan for U.S. Foreign Policy?
Cyrus is a professor of International Affairs. He graduated from L&C in 1967 and has taught here since 1992. His academic interests include U.S. foreign policy, Middle East politics, and diplomacy.

Don't miss out on one of the best Alumni Weekend traditions and join fellow Pios cheering on the football team! This family-friendly event has food, beer provided by a local brewery, plenty of room to sit down and relax, all under a big tent right on the field.
