Schedule of Activities


Thursday, October 18:

Early Registration
3:30-6:00 p.m.
Gatehouse

Alumni Honors Banquet: 6 pm reception, 7 pm dinner and awards program
Templeton Campus Center, Stamm dining room
Join the 2007 award recipients at the annual honors banquet for an evening of great food, drink, conversation and celebration of the achievements of these outstanding Lewis & Clark alumni. E. Ward Plummer '62 and Shahzeb Jillani '94 will be honored for their noteworthy accomplishments; David LaFrance '86 and Patrick B. Hibbard '52 will be honored for their service to the College.

Friday, October 19:

Registration
2:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Gatehouse
Pick up your registration packet including your nametag and list of events. Nametags are required for access to on-campus reunion events and meals.

Campus Tours
Tours leave at 3, 3:30, and 4 p.m. meet at Gatehouse
The campus continues to develop outstanding resources for students. Take a guided tour with student tour guides that explores recent additions to the campus.

Multicultural Reception
4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
Join fellow alumni to learn more about ethnic and gender diversity at Lewis & Clark. Non-alcoholic beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Join inductees Stan Blair '51, Leanne Desilet '86, Ena Eakin '92, Don Sempert '51, M.A.T. '72, and the 1965 NWC Champions Track & Field, for an evening of great food, drink, conversation, and celebration of the inspiring athletic achievements of Lewis & Clark College Alumni.

Difficulties Confronting Post-9/11 Global Threat Bob Mandel, professor and department chair of international affairs, will discuss the complexities of the post-911 global environment.

A Spider's Eye View of Biodiversity Greta Binford, assistant professor of biology, will explore the diversity of spiders, their venoms, and feeding behaviors.

The Making of a Novel: History, Geography, and Imagination in A Man You Could Love John Callahan Morgan S. Odell professor of humanities, will discuss themes from his recent novel.

Alumni College II 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.
Choose one of three below

The Middle East Quagmire and the United States Foreign Policy Nightmare Cyrus Partovi '67, senior lecturer in social sciences, will speak about today's issues concerning the Middle East and the United States.

Who You've Been and Who You'll Be Janet Davidson, associate professor and chair of psychology, will discuss developmental theories and research that portray stability and change across the human lifespan.

Geckos: Biological Inspiration for Smart Adhesives and Climbing Robots. Kellar Autumn, associate professor of biology, will explain how geckos hang from the ceiling, his efforts to mimic this evolutionary trait, and explore the endless everyday applications for such technology.

Tailgate Extravaganza
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Griswold Stadium
Don’t miss out on one of the best Alumni Weekend traditions. This family-friendly event has grilled food, non-alcoholic refreshments, and plenty of tables and chairs, all under a big tent. Join current students as you watch the game and visit with friends.

Homecoming Football Game
1 – 4 p.m.
Griswold Stadium
The Pioneers face off against Northwest Conference opponent University of Puget Sound on Fred Wilson Field.

Learn about a new program for alumni interested in traveling abroad with fellow Lewis & Clark graduates.

Lewis & Clark Comes Home to OMSI

Oregon Museum of Science & Industry
The Lewis & Clark community is invited to spend an evening at OMSI playing, discovering, exploring, and dancing the night away. Many exhibits will be open including Turbine Hall and Science playground, so bring the kids and explore OMSI with your L&C friends.

Sunday, October 21:

Breakfast with the Board of Alumni
9 a.m.
Albany Quadrangle, Smith Hall
Enjoy breakfast in the renovated Albany Quadrangle. The Board of Alumni is a voluntary organization that meets quarterly to discuss alumni events, programs, fund-raising, and other outreach efforts. Come meet this influential group over brunch, and share your ideas with them. Houston Dougharty, dean of students, will update everyone on the Templeton Student Center renovations.
