Lewis & Clark College's Office of Alumni and Parent Programs invites you to an event featuring Cyrus Partovi '67, senior lecturer in social sciences
U.S. Foreign Policy in the Middle East
The complex relationship between the United States and the Middle East is increasingly a cause for concern among Americans. The American military presence in the region; the process of democratization in Iraq; recent events in Lebanon, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia; the election of a new Palestinian president; and developments in the Iranian nuclear program continue to attract media attention and the scrutiny of major powers. Partovi will explore these issues as well as the impact of the second Bush term on foreign policy in the Middle East.
Partovi was director general in charge of international relations in the ministry of the court in the pre-Islamic Republic of Iran. After the fall of the monarchy, Partovi served as a foreign relations analyst in the secretariat of the former crown prince of Iran. His experience in the heart of Iranian politics has provided students of Lewis & Clark College an extraordinary resource for understanding politics in the Middle East.
Come hear Partovi's views on the future of American foreign policy in the Middle East.
