What Media Bias?
 The office of alumni and parent programs invites alumni and parents in Washington, D.C. to a reception and engaging lecture with Professor Robert Eisinger on the topic of media bias.
The debate has raged for at least two decades. Does media bias exist? If so, is it conservative or liberal? Critics on the left insist the press leans right, allowing a vast conspiracy of think tanks and columnists to set a conservative, pro-corporatist media agenda. Conservative pundits similarly are convinced of an overwhelmingly liberal slant on social issues such as abortion, gay rights and religion. Are they both correct? Neither? Professor Eisinger will explore the nuances of media bias – what it is, how it is measured,and why it matters.

Profile
Robert Eisinger is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Political Science at Lewis & Clark College. He has been researching and teaching courses on American politics, political parties, and public opinion at Lewis & Clark College since 1995. He is the author of The Evolution of Presidential Polling (2003: Cambridge University Press) as well as several published articles on public opinion, political psychology and trust in government. In addition, Professor Eisinger founded the Lewis & Clark College Great American Film Series and is the Political Analyst for KPAM (860 AM) in Portland, Oregon.
