Binford earns prestigious career award from National Science Foundation

Greta Binford, assistant professor of biology at Lewis & Clark College, has received a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program award. The award is one the foundation’s most prestigious and supports the early career development activities of newer teacher-scholars who are considered most likely to become the academic leaders of the 21st century.

44th Annual International Affairs Symposium

From April 10 to 13, Lewis & Clark's 44th annual International Affairs Symposium delves into issues surrounding religious, national, and global identities. Presenters include national and international scholars, journalists, and government officials.

Senior Art Exhibition

For 18 seniors, four years of creating and refining works of art culminates in an exhibition at the Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art. View their sculpture, ceramics, photography, paintings, drawings, and graphic art April 6 through May 7.

Graduate school seminar focuses on Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has suffered from three interlocking catastrophes: a lack of development, the 20-year-old civil-ethnic war, and the horrific consequences of the 2004 tsunami. This three-week seminar will allow participants to experience the country as a whole as well as gain insight into the grassroots self-help organization, Sarvodaya, who aims to foster the well-being of the indigenous population. Participants will spend time in the community helping with projects such as working in villages or participating in peace and conflict resolution activities.

Huffman announces return to classroom

After thirteen years of outstanding service to Lewis & Clark Law School as dean, James L. Huffman has announced his plans to return to a faculty position at the law school. Huffman steps down as dean on June 30, 2006 and returns to the classroom in fall 2007. "Jim Huffman has enriched both life and learning at Lewis & Clark for more than thirty years," said Thomas Hochstettler, president. "His leadership and his wisdom during his thirteen-year tenure as dean have advanced the ways we understand and think about legal education that are fundamental to creating sound public policy and enhancing social well-being."
