Visit important archaeological sites, ponder ancient civilizations, hike to a mountain village, and take in the sparkling waters of the Aegean Sea. Enjoy great food and fellowship as our faculty hosts share their insight and spirit of adventure.

Kugler Robert Kugler

Professor Kugler is the Paul S. Wright Professor of Christian Studies, 2007 winner of the Teacher of the Year Award, a dead sea scrolls expert, and is currently leading the fall student overseas trip to Greece and Turkey.

Nicholas Smith

Professor Smith is the James F. Miller Professor of Humanities, serves as the Director of the Classical Studies Department, has written widely about Plato and Socrates, has traveled throughout Greece and led numerous student overseas trips.

ITINERARY

Day 1: US-Athens

Day 2: Acropolis, Agora, Theatre of Dionysus. Night in Athens.

Day 3: National Archaeological Museum. Night in Athens.

Day 4: Day trip to Delphi. Night in Athens.

Day 5: Morning: travel to Olympia; afternoon at archaeological site; late afternoon, travel to Nafplio. Night in Nafplio.

Day 6: Mycenae, Tiryns, Epidaurus. Night in Corinth.

Day 7: Morning: archaeological site in Corinth; afternoon, travel to Athens, air travel to Lesvos. Night on Lesvos.

Day 8: Mytilene, optional p.m. hiking tour to Iassos (mountain village). Otherwise, afternoon at the beach. Night on Lesvos.

Day 9: Ferry to Ayvalik, Turkey. Night at Behramkale (Assos).

Day 10: Troy, Assos, Pergamum. Night at Pergamum.

Day 11: Ephesus. Night at Kusadasi.

Day 12: Ferry to Samos. Tour of Samos. Night at Pythagorio.

Day 13: Air travel to Athens; afternoon at leisure in Athens.

Day 14: Athens-US.
