You will learn all the basics including nomenclature, and proper stroke and rescue techniques. After a nice lunch in Clackamette Park we will commence our journey up to the mighty Willamette Falls. Along the way we might pass an Osprey or Great Blue Heron, and if we are lucky we might see a fisherman catch a Sturgeon. All the while we will be learning about the rich history surrounding this magnificent landmark and the subsequent industrialization. This trip will give you a new appreciation for the Willamette River.

The morning will start with a quick start introduction on flatwater, where we’ll work on proper stroke and rescue techniques. We will break for lunch before heading out on our guided afternoon journey. Along the coast, we’ll survey sea caves and rock formations, and enjoy the plethora of flora and fauna in the tidal estuaries. The afternoon adventure will be suited towards the comfort level of our students, and location will be based upon swell, tidal conditions, and weather.
