Hideo Nagura ’88
Hideo Nagura epitomizes the dedication and determination of Lewis & Clark’s brightest students. A transfer student, he entered Lewis & Clark through ISALC, the Institute for the Study of American Language and Culture. He earned his bachelor’s degree in international affairs in 1988.
Hideo is now Senior Vice President of Cross-Border Transactions at Montgomery & Co. He serves as the Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group liaison for Montgomery & Co. He has played a major role in the success of many of Japan’s major corporate restructuring projects, including those associated with such prominent Japanese companies as Optec, Ryobi, Okura, and Tsumura. The Ryobi project was reported as one of Japan’s 10 largest transactions in the May 2000 issue of Mergers & Acquisitions Research Report.
Hideo also acted as financial adviser to the French hotel giant Accor, the world’s largest hotel operator, in the acquisition of Hotel Sofitel Tokyo. The deal was significant because it marked the first purchase of a major hotel in Tokyo by a foreign company.
Hideo was recently selected to serve on the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi’s nine-member corporate advisory team for large-scale mergers and acquisitions, in cooperation with Lehman Brothers.
In 2000, Hideo received the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, which honors an alumnus/a for rendering superior performance in his or her chosen field and superior service to his or her chosen community within 15 years of graduation.
