Patrick B. Hibbard

Class of 1952

Pat Hibbard is the retired President and CEO of two Portland printing companies: Western Drug Label Company and Business Printing Company. He sold these businesses in 1996 and retired in 1997.

Shortly after graduation from Lewis & Clark, where he received a B.S. degree in business, he was drafted into the United States Army. He was attached to the 3rd Signal Company of the 3rd U.S. Infantry Division in Korea. During the remaining stages of the Korean War, his units were awarded both United States and Korean Presidential Unit Citations and he was personally decorated with the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Battle Stars and the United States' Bronze Star.

After the service he entered his father's insurance business in Portland. In 1958 he moved to Seattle where he was nationally noted as the youngest executive vice president of an insurance company in the nation. In 1962, he left the insurance industry and began a career in television, advertising and graphics. He worked as the northwest promotion manager for the national publication, TV Guide; as an account executive for KOIN-TV, Channel 6 and as an assistant vice president in marketing for one of Portland's local banks. While at the bank, Pat was named the 1971 "Boss of the Year" by the American Business Women's Association.

Active in the advertising industry for over 30 years, he devoted a great deal of his energies to the Oregon Ad Club, (now known as the Portland Advertising Federation) and served as it's President from 1970 to 1971.

Pat and his wife Gayle were married in 1965 by Dr. Morgan S. Odell, and live in Gresham, Oregon. They have three children: Brad, a sculptor, Greg, a residential home and properties developer, and Noelle, a school teacher. The Hibbard's have four grandchildren.

Pat also serves on the Albany Society Board of Directors.
