Privacy and Confidentiality Policy

Personal identifiable information about members of the Lewis & Clark College community may not be used for solicitation of any type. Protecting the privacy of alumni, parents, and friends of the College is of the utmost importantance to the Office of Alumni and Parent Programs. We are dedicated to building connections between members of the Lewis & Clark community, and we must at the same time be mindful of individual's privacy preferences.

When you access the Alumni Directory, you can define a privacy setting for each piece of personal identifiable information. For example, you may choose to display your employment information to all alumni, but display your home phone number only to your classmates. Each piece of data can be made available to all alumni, no alumni, just your class, or just your era(which includes three years before and after your class year).

Please log into the directory and set your personal privacy preferences. Alternately, feel free to call toll free 800.753.9292 and discuss your privacy preferences with a member of alumni staff. If you do not update your preferences, your profile will include:

• Class year
• Home state
• Major
• Overseas trip
• Additional degree(s)
• Student activity
• Athletics
• Alumni activities
• Fraternity/ Sorority
• Awards
• Alumni honors

Of course, you’ll always be able to change your settings whenever you like.

Please use the directory with the confidence and assurance that your data is private. We are dedicated to ensuring that your privacy is protected, while at the same time allowing the Alumni Directory to be used safely for its intended purpose - building connections among the Lewis & Clark community.

Requesting Alumni Information

The Alumni office is unable to release alumni information without consent. The Alumni Directory allows the alumni office to determine what information can be given to alumni and classmates. Please update your privacy settings, so we can determine what information can be released.

If a profile doesn't contain enough information, you can send a contact request to the Alumni office. Just click on the "Get in touch" link at the bottom of the profile. Your contact information will be sent to that alum. Contact information may be sent by e-mail, phone, or regular U.S. post.

Releasing Alumni Information

The alumni office provides names and phone numbers to alumni performing college related business. This includes reunion activities, fund-raising, and outreach opportunities. Effective September 2006, all volunteers who request a list must first sign and return the Confidentiality Agreement.

If you have updated your mailing and solicitation preferences, your phone number will not be provided for fund-raising opportunities. Please contact the alumni office at 503.768.7950 or alumni@lclark.edu if you have any questions or concerns.
