Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship
A national college with a global reach, Lewis & Clark can offer opportunities you won't find anywhere else. A typical day might find you helping your biology professor gather botanical samples for a habitat study, meeting with other students to plan the annual Gender Studies Symposium, e-mailing your future host family in Glasgow, or interning in a high-tech firm in Oregon's Silicon Forest.
Lewis & Clark College is dedicated to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research, and to preparing students for effective and meaningful participation in public and private life. Our rigorous undergraduate curriculum hones a student's analytical and communication skills in various challenging and exciting venues: in international and cross-cultural learning programs, in progressive and award-winning mathematical and natural science programs, in the learning of the beauty and style of the arts and humanities and the ever-important influence of the social sciences in the world around us. Our goal is to increase your academic and intellectual independence and to prepare you for your future, whether it be graduate school, medical school, law school or another dream you bring with you to make it a reality.
The first priority of the Lewis & Clark faculty is teaching. Beyond the classroom, faculty make themselves available during regular office hours to advise students. Our faculty are also active in research and scholarship, and many faculty members involve students in their research projects.
