A day to savor the experience of Reading, the practice of Writing and the pleasures of Art.
We read books that come to us. Some are assigned, some are given, some come with great claims. But what happens is hard to predict and when we are lucky, impossible to forget.
This will be a day to tell and to write stories from our lives in the presence of books in the company of artist Deborah Marchant and writer Kim Stafford. This is not a "book group" convened to discuss the qualities we love in books we have read, though we will do a bit of that. This is a day to identify what the most important books in our lives have taught us to do. William Stafford called this "inner legislation," the recognition of how the calling of inner experience, kindled by a book, may send us into a whole new kind of life in the world.
Workshop and Registration Flier We will write from these experiences, share our learnings as it develops, delve into the life of the painter, reader, writer, and compose a personal manifesto about the directions we now take in the repair of the world in company with our sacred books. Please join us to meet fervent readers, learn about amazing books, and come to a new understanding of your work in the world.
