Psychology for Everyone
This course is an introduction to topics studied by research psychologists, emphasizing applications to counseling/clinical work. Topics include: Orientation to biological, behavioral, cognitive, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches; Experimental, clinical and correlational methods; Basic neuroanatomy and brain function; States of consciousness; Learning and memory; Motivation and emotion; developmental and personality psychology; Orientation to psychological diagnosis and treatment; Social influence, interpersonal perception, and attitudes and attitude change.
Students can anticipate spending six hours a week in on-line or in-person interactions with classmates and instructor and 10 or more hours weekly reading and writing assignments. In-person meetings will be dependent on student availability.
This course may be taken:
In lieu of acquiring a passing score on the Psychology Based GRE exam.For non-credit/CEU’s or for continuing education credit.
