TASK West Cohort
The TASK West grant has been awarded to 25 teachers from Hillsboro, Forest Grove, Beaverton, and West Linn-Wilsonville school districts who are teaching in classrooms with considerable numbers of students acquiring English as a second language. This enthusiastic and hard-working group of educators has just finished the first of six academic courses toward the ESOL endorsement, which will be added to their licensure. A special focus of this grant is financial support to develop outreach projects for the involvement of parents, families and communities of English Language Learners in student learning and school-wide improvement. Previous LC ESOL program grants of this type have been highly effective in developing creative ways of inviting family and community contributions to students' learning.
