The Chinese program at Lewis & Clark College offers a Chinese minor, as well as classes for the Foreign Languages and East Asian Studies major. Elementary to advanced level courses apply a variety of approaches to integrate linguistic skills, enhance students’ strengths, encourage individual learning styles, and monitor closely their individual progress and outcomes. Literature in translation courses explore both pre-modern and modern fiction, exposing students to the rich tradition of Chinese writing throughout the past three thousand years. Study-abroad opportunities take students to Beijing or Harbin.

A variety of career opportunities are available to students who graduate with a strong grounding in the study of Chinese. These include the foreign service, international business, graduate study, and teaching.
