About the Cover

Did You Notice the Cover?

With this issue, the magazine’s front cover boldly proclaims Lewis & Clark, a name that unites the undergraduate college, the law school, and the graduate school of education and counseling. While we have retained the Chronicle name, we have shifted the graphic emphasis to Lewis & Clark to better reflect our institutional identity. We will continue to bring you a rich menu of stories that highlight the spirit of academic leadership, global perspective, and community engagement that is at the heart of Lewis & Clark.

More than 100,000 white flags, each symbolizing six Iraqis who have died during the U.S. occupation, as well as 3,000 red flags representing U.S. soldiers killed during the war, fluttered in remembrance on the Lewis & Clark campus in March. The Iraq Body Count Memorial was sponsored by Students for a Democratic Society.

Twenty-nine student artists, a record number, displayed their work in the disciplines of ceramics, drawing, graphic arts, painting, photography, and sculpture.
