Art Gallery Nouveau

In recognition of a generous gift from Ronna and Eric Hoffman, Lewis & Clark College has renamed the campus art gallery in the couple’s honor. The gallery’s new name is the Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art at Lewis & Clark College.

Learning to Look, the inaugural exhibition in the newly named gallery, features photographs from the Hoffmans’ private collection, including works by Ansel Adams, Richard Avedon, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Imogen Cunningham, Elliott Erwitt, Jacques-Henri Lartigue, Yousuf Karsh, Annie Leibovitz, Robert Mapplethorpe, Irving Penn, W. Eugene Smith, Edward Steichen, and Edward Weston. The exhibition runs through December 12.

"The Hoffmans started collecting photographs as a family project when their children were quite young," says Linda Tesner, director of the Hoffman Gallery. "They believe that by looking at art on a day-to-day basis, one develops a great affection for artwork as well as an acuity for aesthetics."

Viewers admire the Learning to Look exhibition at an opening reception in October.
