20 Years of ACEs and Counting!

Lewis & Clark’s admissions alumni volunteer program celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The program enables alumni throughout the country to assist the undergraduate admissions office in attracting bright, diverse, and motivated students to the College.

The program, which began in 1985, was the brainchild of Lee Weinstein ’81, then assistant dean of admissions, and Michael Ford, then director of alumni relations.The program is divided into two levels: Alumni Coordinators for Enrollment (ACEs) and Special Events Assistants (SEAs).Volunteers help with a variety of activities, including college fairs, interviews, receptions, contacting admitted students, and recommending Lewis & Clark to high school students.

“The key to the program’s success is the mandatory on-campus training conference sponsored by the admissions office," says Erica Johnson ’98, associate dean of admissions and ACE program director. “It empowers ACEs with the knowledge and confidence to represent today’s Lewis & Clark." Each year, there are 45 ACEs and more than 400 SEAs.
