Join us for an exciting afternoon as national legal experts discuss a promising and challenging new energy source, ocean wave energy, on the eve of an important Federal Energy Regulatory Commission workshop in Portland.
FERC Commissioner Phil Moeller will start the symposium with a luncheon keynote address. Thomas Jensen '83, U.S. regulatory counsel to Finavera Renewables, will provide an overview of current federal and state law and what to expect as federal energy legislation is debated this Fall. Leading members of Oregon's congressional delegation will appear via videolink. A panel of experts including Kevin Banister of Finavera Renewables, Jack Sterne '94 of Rising Tide Strategies, and Allen Alley of Governor Kulongoski's office will make suggestions to optimize the federal and state regulatory environment in order to grow the industry, protect the environment, and serve the state of Oregon. The day will conclude with an early evening reception.
Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, there will be no charge for the symposium. However, attendance is limited and advance registration is required. Parking is also very limited and alternative transportation information will be provided to confirmed registrants. See the sidebar on the right for more information.
