LL.M. in Environmental and Natural Resources Law
Costs and Financial Aid
Tuition and academic costs
Tuition for each academic year is set in January. Tuition for the 2007-08 academic year was $1,024 per credit or $26,624 for the full 26-credit program. The LL.M. registration fee is $42.50 per semester. Health insurance through the law school is currently $1,362 for nine months.
LL.M. students should also allow for approximately $500 per semester in books and course materials.
Living expenses
The estimated average cost of living expenses for a single student, including off-campus rent, basic utilities, food, transportation, and personal expenses, is $14,000 for the nine-month academic year.
All law students live off-campus; many live in the neighborhood and take free campus shuttles or public transportation to school. If you choose to drive a car, you should budget expenses for the car purchase, maintenance, insurance, gasoline, and parking fees.
Scholarships and financial aid
A limited number of scholarships may be available for highly-qualified U.S. and international students depending on need and merit. U.S. students may apply for the Lewis & Clark LL.M. Environmental Leadership Award; international students may apply for the Lewis & Clark LL.M. Environmental Ambassador Award. The amount of scholarship awarded will vary depending on circumstances, but will not exceed one-half of the tuition cost. To be considered for a scholarship, please submit a statement of need with your application materials.
Qualified U.S. students may also receive financial aid in the form of loans. If you are a U.S. student and plan to apply for such loans, request financial aid forms by checking the box on the LL.M. application form. You should complete and return the financial aid forms as soon as possible. Because financial aid decisions may lag behind admissions decisions, you should not wait until you have received an offer of admission to apply for financial aid. Contact our Student Financial Services office for more details.
International students are encouraged to explore funding options with their governments or private foundations. There are a number of programs available for qualified international graduate study in the United States. See International Student Graduate Funding for more information.
